Scholastic Book Fair

It’s almost here! Our school’s Scholastic Book Fair will begin soon!

Student Preview Day (making wish lists) will be Monday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 18 will be purchase day for those students who bring money. Thursday evening and Friday morning it will be open during Parent/Teacher conferences for in person purchases. 

All purchases benefit our school and earn Scholastic Dollars that can be redeemed for books and educational resources for our school’s classrooms and library. Thank you for participating in our Scholastic Book Fair!  Happy reading!

School Conferences – Progress Update

Parent-Teacher Conferences:

  • provide time and space for families to have one-on-one conversations with teachers specific to their child’s progress and achievement in relation to the intended learning goals;
  • share evidence of individual student progress and achievement (e.g., student work assessed against established criteria, student reflections) with families

Our School Conference will be held the evening of Thursday, March 19 and in the morning on Friday, March 20.  Conferences will be held in-person at the school.

Parents/guardians can book their 15 minute conference time on-line using MyCBE starting 9 AM Sunday, March 8, until March 18 at noon.  For detailed instructions on booking a School Conference through MyCBE please see How to Book a Conference Guide

Alberta Education and Childcare Assurance Survey – Deadline extended to March 13

Alberta Education and Childcare will once again conduct its annual survey of grade 4, 7, and 10 students and their parents or guardians. This survey will gather essential information about students’ and parents’ school experiences, helping to drive continuous improvements in our education system. This survey will remain open until March 13, 2026.  Parents or guardians of students in grade 4, 5, and 6 should have received an email from CBE School Improvement containing a link to the survey, along with a unique Random-Access Code and detailed instructions. Students in grade 4, 5, and 6 and teachers will complete the survey at school. If you have questions or do not receive a code, please do not hesitate to contact the school.  

School Council | Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches

This year, Woodlands School Council will organize ‘fun lunches” through the Healthy Hunger application. Click on theSchool Council | Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches for more information on ordering (place your order 5 days in advance). If your student is absent on the day of the Fun Lunch, we will hold the lunch for you to pick up if you contact the school before lunch on that day otherwise the lunch will be donated or discarded.

 The following lunches are planned so far:

  • March 18 – McDonald’s
  • April 22 – Taco Time
  • May 20 – Little Caesars

Child Care Tax Receipts for CBE Lunch Supervision (January 2025–December 2025) are now available through MyCBE. How to View and Print a Tax Receipt

Please download and/or print your online receipt to include with your 2025 tax return. Paper copies are no longer provided. If you do not already have a MyCBE account, please create one to access your receipt.  MyCBE > Fees, Waivers & Service Registrations > Menu (three lines) > Tax Receipts

Language and Reading – Parent Sessions

The Speech Language Pathology team is pleased to share an upcoming online parent learning opportunity, Tying it Together with the Reading Rope, designed to support families in building early literacy skills at home. For families of students in Kindergarten through Grade 2.

Tying it Together with the Reading Rope – Parent Sessions

  • April 20 – Building Language Comprehension through Shared Reading
  • May 4 – Identifying and Playing with Sounds at Home
