Staffing Update

Congratulations to Mary Ogaard, the long-time Facility Operator at Woodlands School. Mary has retired as of January 10. Thanks to Mary for her excellent care of the Woodlands School facility during her 12+ years here. We are pleased to welcome the incoming new Facility Operator Mr. Marvin Malimban as of January 10, 2025.

Gymnastics Instruction

Students will begin gymnastics instruction in PE during the week of January 13 and continuing until January 30. Comfortable, active clothing will be best for these activities that will include mats, activities on low balances and activities on high balances like the Canadian Climber. Students will follow a safe instructional progression. Students can choose to wear shoes or bare feet. Long hair should be tied back. Please connect with your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Open House Information

Many schools across CBE hold Open Houses for interested families early in the school year. This can be of particular interest for students transitioning from Grade 6 to Grade 7. Please see the Woodlands School website for a link to all CBE Open Houses in the months of January and February 2025. Should you have an interest in applying to an alternative program, please note the February 11 due date for the submission of the expression of interest online.

Ready, Set, Kindergarten!

Kindergarten Registration Begins Monday, Jan. 13, 2025. Registering your child for school is an exciting first step for many families! CBE kindergarten registration opens Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, for the 2025-26 school year. In addition to regular kindergarten programming, CBE offers a variety of language and alternative programs. We encourage all families to explore the option that best suits the needs of their child. Please use the Find a School tool to determine which school your child is designated to.

Children are eligible to register and attend kindergarten if they turn five years old on or before Dec. 31 of the school year they will be in kindergarten. For example, when registering for the 2025-26 school year, your child must turn five on or before Dec. 31, 2025.

More about registering for Kindergarten can be found on the CBE website under Registrations.

Parking Lot and Road Safety Reminders

Drivers are reminded to please obey all parking signs and bylaws near the crosswalk to ensure the safety and visibility of our students as they cross. As well, we ask drivers to please avoid making U-Turns in front of the school, backing into our neighbours' driveways and from sending your student directly across the street from your car.

Families are reminded to not use the staff parking lot for dropping off students or picking up students at any time (including when late or during the school day). This practice is a safety concern for children. Thank you to the many adults who are using the parking lot across the street or Woodgreen Drive to drop off or pick up their children. The children are reminded to walk around the parking lot area and not through it.

Report Cards - Available Online January 27

Families will be able to view online student report cards for Kindergarten to Grade 12 on Jan. 27, 2025. Report cards may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed. Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. Need Help? Check out these videos for more information on how to log in and navigate the portal when you have more than one child attending CBE schools.
