Elementary Track & Field City Championships

Teachers are encouraged to help share and support a new opportunity for elementary students across Calgary. The Elementary School Track & Field City Championships will take place on Saturday, May 31 and is open to students in Grades 3–6. This event is designed to build physical literacy through fun and inclusive experiences in running, jumping, and throwing, helping to address a gap in opportunities for younger students.

What you can do:

·         Review the event brochure in the link

·         Share the information with students, families, and your school community

·         Encourage interested students to participate

This is a great opportunity to support students’ well-being, confidence, and engagement in physical activity while introducing them to track and field in a positive, accessible way.

See 2026 Track and Field brochure under Related Information.

Netball Alberta Residency in PE Moved to June 15-19

We are pleased to offer netball instruction for all students through Netball Alberta during the week of June 15-19.  This residency is possible through the generosity of the Woodlands School Council – it is free for all students.

Netball is a team sport played by two teams of seven players on a rectangular court with a goal at each end. The objective is to score by throwing the ball through a ring attached to a post, while preventing the opposing team from scoring. It involves passing, shooting, and strategic movement, with players assigned specific positions and movement restrictions.

Learning Commons Collection Donations

With the support of School Council, we are working to establish a design/maker station in our learning commons for classes to use. If you have any collections of small items – like paper towel rolls, buttons, nuts and bolts, spools, straws or other small items, we would appreciate these donations and will add them to our design learning station. Please bring these items to the office or send them with your student.
