Students will acquire lacrosse skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities in a varied environment while experiencing the health benefits that result from physical activity. ELEV8 Classroom encourages students to interact positively with others while demonstrating etiquette and fair play. Beyond lacrosse, the physical components also focus on skills such as running, jumping, throwing and catching, which are fundamental to any sport. Please watch this video to see what students will be learning.
Alberta Education Assurance Survey – Your Voice Matters!
The Alberta Education Assurance Survey is administered each year by Alberta Education to teachers, students and parents. It provides an opportunity to give feedback on what is working well and what challenges exist in education in Alberta. Students respond to 25 questions about their experiences at school related to quality of education, teaching and learning in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and aspects of a safe, caring and welcoming school. Questions on the survey are accompanied by a scale of responses (e.g., Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree, Very Satisfied to Very Dissatisfied, Don’t Know and N/A). Students will complete the online survey during school hours using a link provided by Alberta Education. At Woodlands, our students in Grades 4-6 will participate in the survey in class during the month of February.
Parents of students in Grades 4-6 should expect a mailed letter with survey information, the survey link and a Random Access Code (mailings began around end of January). Parents may also choose to complete the paper survey and return it by mail. Requests for translations to the survey can be made to the email included in the parent package. The results from these surveys are used at the provincial, system and school level to make decisions about school improvement. Please contact the office should you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your feedback.
S4 Calgary Police School Partnership
Start Smart Stay Safe brings police officers in the classroom to engage with students with strengths-based lessons. Police encourage students to use their strengths and to continue to develop their skills to keep themselves and their communities safe. Each class will have a 1 hour visit from Constable Melissa Van Waes before the end of the school year.

Thanks to all of our students in Grade 5/6 who have demonstrated excellent leadership by working to prepare and host Winter Play Day.
