Woodlands School Improvement Results Report and School Development Plan

At the Woodlands School Council meeting on November 19, we shared achievement and perception data specific to our school goals.  This data is now posted on the Woodlands School Website under the Our School tab.  The data informed the creation of updated school goals for 2025-26.  Those goals and actions are outlined in the School Development Plan now posted on website on the same page.  We appreciate the engagement and feedback of parents and families in this process to support student achievement.

Individual Photo Retakes

Please ensure your child knows if you would like them to have their photo retaken. Students who missed the first photo day will automatically be sent to have their photo taken. Bring your smile!

Lockdown Practice with Calgary Police Service

On Wednesday, November 26, we were supported by Calgary Police Service to hold the first of two required lockdown practices during the school year. Constable Burroughs and Constable Partridge expressed that Woodlands’ students were well prepared and were excellent participants in this practice lockdown exercise.

Kananaskis in the Classroom – 9:00 AM Whole School Performance – Weather the Storm

When it comes to weather, the sun is calling the shots. Students will see what happens when she gets angry at a hiker who relies on ‘Gooble’ for updates on the weather over her. Learn the ins and outs of weather and how it works and meet some fun characters along the way!

The performance will inspire curiosity and connect audiences to the natural world. Students are engaged in curriculum through catchy music, exciting, costumed characters and audience participation. Presentation includes a 50-minute theatrical show for the whole school (K-6) and four follow-up sessions to allow students to delve deeper into the topic with activities, props and hands-on exploration.

School Council | Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches

This year, Woodlands School Council will organize ‘fun lunches” through the Healthy Hunger application. Click on the link above for more information on ordering (place your order 5 days in advance). If your student is absent on the day of the Fun Lunch, we will hold the lunch for you to pick up if you contact the school before lunch on that day otherwise the lunch will be donated or discarded.

The following lunches are planned so far:

December 18 – Waffles & Chix

February 18 – Coco Brooks Pizza

March 18 – McDonald’s

April 22 – Taco Time

May 20 – Little Caesars

Woodlands Winter Showcase Evening – December 18

Please come and enjoy a short performance and winter themed artwork in the Woodlands gym according to the following schedule.

As there is limited seating in the gym, please come to view only the times where you have a student performing.

Doors will open for students and families to arrive 15 minutes before the performance time. On arrival, students should go to their classrooms.

At the conclusion of the performance grouping your child is in, please exit the gym and pick up your child from their classroom.

Please check the Google Classroom blog for your child to find the recommended attire for students.
